After a long day at Port Aventura we woke up early to catch our bus to Colliour, France which was a 3 hour ride on a charter bus. But not to worry! Our bus driver insisted on stopping every hr for a bathroom break or for him a smoke break because Europeans and their cigarettes are simply not to be parted for too long. Also I started reading Eat Pray Love so the time went a little faster. The best part of the bus ride was they decided to play a movie (even though it was in spanish) and guess what movie it was?! The day after Max paints his face like an avatar at Port Aventura... that's right, Avatar. It was perfect. I mean what are the chances?!
We arrived tired and hungry and the misty fog that had settled over most of the Costa Brava was not helping the situation. We dropped off our luggage at a cute little hotel with no lobby in the building (it was next door instead). Just floor upon floor of rooms with a spiral staircase running up the middle like the spine of the building. Then we scampered off to th Chateau Royal de Collioure across the street, the grave of Antonio Machado (a spanish poet who lived in Collioure for a bit and died there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Machado) to read our Spanish poems we wrote on the bus and leave them at his grave, a bit o0f free time which I spent eating a beignet de pomme, then we took the little train to a higher point in Collioure through what seemed like endless vinyards for a great view of the coast and the tiny village below.
Then my favorite part of the day, DINNER TIME! (Also, nearby was a tapas place with a familiar name!) Crepes with ham, cheese, and egg for dinner then a crepe with nutella for dessert... aka heaven on a plate. Also, our waiter looked like a french Jake Gyllenhaal so that never hurts. A walk around town to digest as the night lights came on and then a good night's rest!
