Journey to Paris, Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur

The night before our chunnel ride was like the night before Christmas! But alas, we had to get to sleep and up early for the train which left from King's Cross Station around 9am. We arrived in Paris around noon their time (we lost an hour due to time zones on the train) and were greeted by the Roma gypsy children at the train station... little angels (sarcasm). Ashley and I witnessed a sketchy group of men trying to "help" unsuspecting tourists with the metro ticket kiosks but were instead blatantly memorizing people's pin and card numbers... people can be so oblivious sometimes. We finally got to our hostel just in time to check in at 2pm. St. Christopher's Inn-Paris was so luxurious compared to London's hostel. Each bunk had its own little curtain and reading light, a desk and chair, and a lot more space for activites! We dropped our luggage and set out for the Montmartre area. We visited the Sacre Coeur, Place de Tertre, and bustling side streets. Just getting to the top of the hill to the basilica was quite a workout, a preemptive strike on the impending crepe feast. We walked aorund inside and paid to scale the 350 step spiral staircase to the very top for excellent aerial views and for our first real life view of the Eiffel Tower! Back on solid ground, we walked around the corner to the artist hotspot for some fresh crepes: one savory and one sucre to split! :) Bed for the night, but tomorrow... a full day of Parisienne adventures!
