Manuel Antonio: The Journey There

The trip to Manuel Antonio started off well enough. All 6 of us piled onto our bus (no AC but windows open on the highway are a close 2nd). We got to stop for a 10 minute break at a truck stop looking thing that sold fruit and had bathrooms. I bought sour gummy worms which upon boarding the bus I promptly spilled half of onto the floor... God's way of telling me to lay off the gummy worms I think... Then all but one passenger had made it back to the bus to continue our journey... the missing passenger was busy puking in the bathroom from motion sickness. Nevertheless the bus driver shamelessly honked until she came stumbling out of the bathroom stall and back onto the bus. In the last stretch of the journey there was a traffic jam due to road construction (they were only letting one side of traffic go at a time) which had us at a dead stop in the unforgiving heat and unbearable stench of oil palm manufacturing... I was ready to get to Manuel Antonio!!! Then as we pull into town, we accidentally took out a power line because the roof hatch was open and caught the low hanging cords above... literally took down most of the power lines and just kept driving... Pura Vida...

When we finally got there and settled in, we all changed into our suits and walked down to a small free beach our hostel lady suggested... "walk a mile, fork right, walk another mile... there's the beach!". What happens when the road forks in three directions and we get lost after possibly choosing the wrong fork? About an hour later we found a beach. Whether it was the right one or not, we were glad to take a swim!
Secret Beach

Shorts tan... cute.

Over the weekend we walked around the park, swam at the beaches, kayaked through mangroves, took a tour of the Rainmaker, and ate lots of delicious food!

See the following posts for details on each and pictures of the adventure :)
Sleeping beauties on the bus... don't worry, these are my friends, not some strangers I was creeping on...

Monkeys crossing the street on a rope tied between trees, habitat fragmentation mitigation at its  finest! haha
