Some of my classmates were appalled by the conditions of our sleeping, eating, and internet conditions on the trip. However, after many a camping trip spent in cramped canoes with worms, fish, and a wet dog, sleeping in tents and cooking over a fire, no wifi, and walking to the showers where you were sure to find 5 or 6 daddy long legs... I found them surprisingly adequate.
Sure the ladder on the bunk beds were against the wall, we shared one bathroom between 10 girls and two bird researchers (one of which was from Scotland and had a really amusing accent), ate more rice than I ever thought possible even for Costa Rica, and encountered bugs undeterred by countless reapplications of bug spray... but they always gave us mosquito nets, plentiful jugs of drinking water, sometimes a towel and complementary soap, a place to hang your clothes outside to "dry", and opportunities to experience the 3 AM wake up call of a howler monkey in the distance...
