Channeling my Inner Farmer

A few pictures from the last volunteer Saturday of the season at Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture on Woodlawn Estate in Alexandria, VA.

Left: a field my volunteer buddy and I planted with cover crop (peas and rye) for the winter
Right: Shoveling and spreading horse poo we acquired from the farm across the street.
Getting the field ready for more cover cropping!

Learning how to "daisy chain" this cloth to put it away neatly for winter.

I planted lettuce seeds at a volunteer Saturday one month ago and this is what they look like now! I DID THAT!!!!

Prepared garlic for planting. The big bucket of garlic sheaths was just so pretty
I had to take a picture before it was thrown in the compost
