Corcovado National Park

One of our field visits was to Corcovado National Park. The hike from the bus, which could not go any further because of a creek, to the ranger station, where we spoke with a park ranger about Corcovado, was about 2 hours ...one way. I was reminded of the Oregon Trail computer game each time we forded one of the 14 creeks/rivers on our way to the station, except in real life and on foot I didn't have to worry about breaking an axle on our wagon or loosing a member of the caravan to dysentery... EVERY TIME!!!

Anyway, after some importantly scholarly research was conducted at the ranger station, we split into two groups which for lack of better terms can be described as follows: the hard core hikers, who forged ahead, and the weenies, who returned to the bus. 

The hike was a strenuous uphill battle between us and the secondary forests of Corcovado National Park but absolutely worth the exercise, endorphins, and waterfall swimming hole that awaited us at the end.

A refreshing dip at the waterfall... I swear we go to class.
