Running my way into the Spring season

Spring has finally sprung in Northern Virginia and I'm enjoying every minute of the sunshine (and even the rain because what kind of spring would it be without a few scattered showers?) The Cherry Blossoms will be here before you know it, and the tourists have already swarmed despite the late blooms.

Blossoms almost ready on a clear day in late March

Outside of the city, we have been busy preparing for the Spring gardening season; building raised beds, moving lots and lots of dirt, sowing seeds, and watching them grow!

First, to build the beds.

Then, to fill the beds. this is what 1.5 cubic yards of dirt looks like.
Finally, to plant the seeds and and watch them grow!

I've also been keeping myself busy with some running jogging in the streets of Richmond for the Monument Avenue 10k ....

Sloth Running Team: We'd Rather Be Napping. Just after finishing the race!

...and in Charlottesville for my first half marathon ever! Ashley got 3rd place in her age group, very proud of her!

Gearing up for the big race!!!
Post-race and still smiling :)

We are the champions! No matter how slow you go, they still give you these sweet, official-looking race shirts and a big finisher's medal :)

Thanks for waiting at the finish line to cheer me through the home stretch!!!!

After the half marathon, we enjoyed the sunshine at a vineyard, somehow having enough energy to chase some roosters around.

Chillin' in some comfy chairs in the BRIGHT sun (hence the squinty eyes)

Get that rooster!
