In the interest of my unending internship search and your precious time, I will try to keep this 4-part-post covering a week of fun short, sweet, and to the point.
SHALL WE??....
We left the house at 5:30am in hopes of catching this alleged bus from San Jose directly to Poas at 830am... first lesson on public transportation in Costa Rica... everything is "alleged". You don't know until you get there, usually to be disappointed. This day was no different. Not only was the bus not at 830am, there was no bus direct from San Jose to Poas. Once we got to Alajuela, no one knew where the bus to Poas was supposed to be leaving from or at what time. Finally someone told us it had already left forcing us to take a taxi all the way up the mountain. We found out later the bus hadn't already left... we still had 30 minutes...
Regardless, we saw the crater and lagoon the most cloud free it could have possibly been, had a nice hike, and caught the bus down to Alajuela at 2:30pm... allowing plenty of free time to sit and eat snacks and browse the gift shop... multiple times.
