Driving around in the field for work today, we spotted 7 hydrants bursting forth with an abundant and forceful stream of water being enjoyed by local residents, and we weren't necessarily looking very hard.
Kiddie pools, water guns, swim trunks, and beach chairs... like a private water park. Some streets that were not closed off had the occasional car stop and get a free rinse cycle before cruising down the street (our car included...).
They didn't seem terribly concerned the police might roll up and inquire who opened the hydrant. And if they were going into the slammer, they were going relaxed and refreshed in their swim trunks and their flippy floppies.
