Sun and Sand in Duck, NC

After my trip to Boston, I had a short work week then off to the Outer Banks for a little ocean-therapy with Jacob's family!
Not enough room in the wagon, this guy and his tube had to run to the beach :)

Welcome to Beantown

A few weekends ago, I flew to Boston for the first time! Save for our family trip to Niagara Falls as a kid, I believe this marks the northernmost point I have been to in the United States.
Flying over the coast to Boston! The fluffy clouds reminded me of plowed snow.

What a great trip! I got to hear some authentic Boston accents (though I did not spot Marky Mark anywhere... oh well. Next time), row on the Charles River, take a boat cruise on the Boston Harbor, eat (or attempt to) an entire cannoli at Mike's Pastry in the North End, stroll around Harvard Square, see the Public Garden and Public Library, and so much more. But most importantly, I got to experience it all with Miss Sarah Lee. We packed as much adventure as we could into our 3 day excursion in search of Boston's finest- and we found it! All of it!

Made for us!

Feeling (and looking) a little wind-blown after our City View Trolley Tour

Holy Cannoli is right. Ricotta overload. Mike's Pastry in the North End after Improv Asylum.

Some of the most beautiful buildings I have seen! Loved the architecture.

Summertime Escape From the Nine to Five.

One would think the cubicle prison would be at its most soul-crushing in the summer time when all you want to do is frolic through a field of daisies and eat a fresh, juicy peach from a road-side stand... instead poor, sad, me peers over my cubicle fortress across the walk-way, through the director's cozy corner office, and out the windows where the sunshine and blue sky beckon.

Ironically, the thought of summertime bliss just outside those windows inviting me to enjoy it in all its glory, makes the Monday-Friday 9-5pm stint in cubicle prison all the more bearable. Just hang on an hour longer, it will be the weekend and we can do fun things with fun people and put the financial reports and draft memos far behind us!

With the summer months coming to a close, let's take advantage of every opportunity to be out, soaking up summer's aforementioned glory.

Philly Waterparks

Summer time is here and things are heating up in Philadelphia. The current heat wave has made it hard to want to do much outside... aside from busting open a few fire hydrants apparently, closing your street off with caution tape and traffic cones, and "making it rain" so to speak.

Driving around in the field for work today, we spotted 7 hydrants bursting forth with an abundant and forceful stream of water being enjoyed by local residents, and we weren't necessarily looking very hard.

Kiddie pools, water guns, swim trunks, and beach chairs... like a private water park. Some streets that were not closed off had the occasional car stop and get a free rinse cycle before cruising down the street (our car included...).

They didn't seem terribly concerned the police might roll up and inquire who opened the hydrant. And if they were going into the slammer, they were going relaxed and refreshed in their swim trunks and their flippy floppies.
